Unfortunately, I had to make a lot of assumptions based on Bureau of Justice stats. I think, however, that most of my assumptions were very fair. I replied to locazuk and included a little bit more information that lends credence to my assumptions. I would like to have more data. My primary reason for including data and making those assumptions, however, was not so much to be exactly on the money as it was to show that, while a problem certainly exists (and it absolutely must be addressed), people's general attitude toward the police is not completely fair. Inclusion of the word "completely" is important as well. Law enforcement has earned itself a poor reputation, particularly amongst minorities, and I think that reputation has merit. You can't be supportive of law enforcement and ignore the problem.
